Spending time with her and catching up on all the things she had been through during our time apart was one of the most special and meaningful experiences of my life. Take some time to check out the @nytimes piece featuring @andreadicenzo stunning photos documenting Afghanistan’s first-ever girls’ robotics team. Beautiful work and story. #Repost @nytimes with @get_repost ・・・ Afghanistan’s first-ever girls’ robotics team became a global sensation in 2017 when they were denied visas into the U.S. for a competition in Washington. Eventually, they got to compete. @nytgender sent @andreadicenzo to photograph them through much of what one team member called the “best year.” Swipe left to see photos from their journey. At the competition in Washington, they received a silver medal for courageous achievement and, in Afghanistan, they were received as symbols of progress. In the time since, the group has shuttled between their homes in Herat and competitions in North America. They have amassed tens of thousands of Facebook followers and have delivered messages about “resilience” and “self-confidence.” It was an unimaginable odyssey between 2 worlds, as their friends and families faced continued violence in Afghanistan.
